Herd Goals
The boer goat project at Trinity Boer Goats, started with Rick wanting goats to keep down his weeds and purchased a few boer cross does. Like allot of other breeders in the boer goat industry it turned into a family love affair. After months of research the Gustaf family decided to make the acreage support itself and to do it with the goats. We are focusing on fullblood traditional Boer goats with the occasional color thrown in here and there. We are striving to achieve the look and performance of the Boer goat that was first imported into the United States.
Dena grew up on a dairy farm that showed their Jersey cows in open classes. They also had highest milk producing Jersey herd in Iowa multiple years in a row. Dena was very involved in the dairy herd with choosing bulls, and keeping heifers. When the boar goats arrived Nate became very interested so Dena started researching and the goal for weed eating goats turned into 4H projects for Nate. After the first kids arrived Karlee became involved, and the goal changed, to producing boer goats for replacement goats, wethers, show, 4-H, FFA, and some market goats. We are wanting quick growing goats that have a strong resistance to worms, good immune system, strong on their feet and have tons of muscle and really look like the "beef" goat.
